Designing the set for Saadhay Chaudah August was an honor and a thrilling challenge, bringing Anwar Maqsood’s comedic political vision to life on stage.
I had the privilege of working as a Set Designer alongside interior designer Marvi Waheed for Saadhay Chaudah August, a play written by the legendary Anwar Maqsood and directed by Dawar Masood in Karachi, Pakistan. This sequel to the iconic 14th August series took a satirical twist on Pakistan’s politics, and it was an absolute honor to translate their creative vision into a tangible set. The process was exhilarating yet demanding, requiring inventive solutions to budget constraints and last-minute adjustments. After countless iterations and teamwork, we successfully brought the stage to life, creating a vibrant set that captured the humor and depth of the play.
